Can Invisalign Fix My Overcrowded Teeth?

Can Invisalign Fix My Overcrowded Teeth?

You have finally come to accept reality: Your teeth are crowded and need help. Your upper and lower teeth aren’t aligned, or you’re having jaw pain or pain when you’re biting or chewing. You might even have a lisp or breathing difficulties.

Whatever symptoms you’re experiencing, you know it’s time to get treatment for your crowded teeth. You’ve been dreading the bulky, traditional metal braces, so now you wonder: Can Invisalign fix my overcrowded teeth?

At Portrait Dental, we believe the answer is a resounding yes! For the right candidates, Invisalign is the ideal treatment for treating overcrowded teeth.

Why fix overcrowded teeth?

The biggest factor in whether or not your teeth become crowded is genetics. If your parents and siblings have crowded teeth, it’s likely you will too. A few other factors can also change the structure of your jaw, resulting in crowded teeth: excessive thumb-sucking or pacifier use past the age of three, gingivitis, abnormally shaped teeth, injuries or trauma, and more.

You may be tempted just to leave your teeth alone, but crowded teeth can have several negative consequences, including difficulty chewing, putting your jaw under strain, increasing the risk of tooth decay, making it harder to clean your teeth, and even lowering your self-esteem.

You need to fix your crowding problem.

Can Invisalign really work for crowded teeth?

After a detailed diagnosis, including digital X-rays and 3D images of your teeth that will show their precise position, your dentist will give you treatment options. For many people, Invisalign will be the perfect solution to correct and straighten your crowded teeth.

The Invisalign system is a series of clear plastic aligners you wear on your teeth (one tray on top and one tray on the bottom) that gradually move your teeth into proper alignment. (We’re talking gradually: Each tooth can move up to one-quarter of a millimeter with each new set of trays.) The entire process usually takes about 12-18 months until your teeth are in their correct positions.

For whom does Invisalign work best?

Invisalign will work best for people who have a dental issue such as overcrowding and are looking for a more subtle, less noticeable method for straightening their teeth. It also works best for older teens and adults who are responsible enough to keep the trays in for 22 hours a day — you should only take them out to eat and brush your teeth.

Using Invisalign to straighten your overcrowded teeth will improve your appearance, allow for better dental hygiene, and give you precise and personalized treatment.
