What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses a series of see-through plastic trays to gradually straighten and align your teeth. 

There are no brackets, rubber bands, or wires like traditional braces. Instead, Invisalign aligners fit snugly over your teeth. They’re made of SmartTrack®, an FDA-approved thermoplastic free of all allergens including BPS, BPX, latex, and gluten. 

What types of issues can Invisalign correct?

Am I a good candidate for Invisalign?

Following an oral exam, review of your medical history, and discussion of your goals for treatment, he can develop a custom orthodontic plan that aligns with your individual needs. 

What happens during Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation at Portrait Dental. During this appointment, Dr. Nguyen asks you questions about your goals for treatment and evaluates your smile. He also takes impressions of your teeth and uploads them to a computer program. 

There, Dr. Nguyen develops a custom treatment plan that maps out the step-by-step movements of your teeth. He then sends the impressions of your teeth to a dental laboratory that manufactures your first set of oral aligners. 

To achieve the best results, you wear your Invisalign aligners 20-22 hours each day. Every 1-2 weeks, you return to Portrait Dental to receive a new pair of aligners. 

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The length of Invisalign treatment varies from person to person, but most people achieve their desired results within 12-18 months. Be patient and follow Dr. Nguyen’s instructions as prescribed. You should also make sure to attend all of your follow up appointments. 

How do I care for my Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign aligners are much easier to clean than traditional metal braces. Dr. Nguyen recommends rinsing your aligners off at least twice a day using cool tap water.
